Cherry pineapple dumb cake

How to prepare a Cherry pineapple dumb cake

My mom used to make me this cake when I was little, and it was always one of my favorites. She called it dumb cake because you don’t need to use your brain (just your hands) to make it—you just dump everything in one bowl and stir! Here’s how she did it, plus a few of my own twists, so you can try it out at home! Warning: If you ever bring this to a party, make sure your guests know not to expect any impressive baking techniques when you whip it out of the oven...

Prepare the tin

The first step in making a Cherry pineapple dumb cake is to prepare your tin. It is important that you line it with baking paper and grease it with butter or cooking spray. If you do not want to use any type of fat, then you can use non-stick cooking spray instead of butter or vegetable oil. The key thing here is that whatever you use, make sure it's completely free from any solid matter or debris so that it does not leave anything when applied on your tin.

layer in cherry mixture. Combine fruit filling with 1/4 c milk. Spread 3/4 c batter on bottom of ungreased 9 x 13 pan. Mix topping ingredients, sprinkle over fruit filling; spread evenly. Pour remaining batter over top layer, spreading carefully to cover completely. Bake in preheated 350F oven 50-60 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (cover loosely with foil after 30 minutes if edges are getting too brown). Serve warm.

This classic cream cheese-based dessert is sure to please. But if you’re looking for something extra special, add pineapple and cherries—you can’t go wrong with these summertime treats. Adjust your cook time according to your sweet tooth: The longer you bake it, the more dumb (or dense) it will be! For example, an 8-inch dumb cake cooked for 20 minutes would result in a very light texture—similar to banana bread. However, cooking it for 25 minutes gives you something closer to pound cake and 30 minutes turns out a nice firm dumb with a bit of chewiness.

Final steps

While all of these steps can be performed in whatever order you wish, I suggest starting with step 1 and ending with step 5. Some other tips

Dumb cake is one of the most perfect desserts ever created. A classic dessert made with cherry pie filling and canned pineapple, it’s low on ingredients, easy to make, and tastes delicious. It’s no wonder it’s such a hit at potlucks and family gatherings! Follow these instructions to make the best dumb cake you’ve ever had!

What is a dumb cake?

Dumb cakes are really easy and they’re a great way to use up some of those less-than-perfect fruits you may have sitting around. A dumb cake is also incredibly delicious! My sister in law made one for my birthday last year. It was incredible. I used cherries, but pineapple works just as well (hence, dumb cake). Also, you can totally leave out either fruit if neither one works with your schedule or taste buds. The best part about dumb cakes is that you don’t even need a recipe!

Ingredients you will need

2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 3 eggs. Mix together. Separately, combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar and 4 tablespoons of butter. Add to first mixture along with 4 tablespoons pineapple juice concentrate, 1/4 cup water and 8 ounces crushed pineapple in its own juice.

Instructions on how to put it together

1. Mix cake mix as directed and pour half into a pan. 2. Mix together cherry pie filling, pineapple preserves, and lemon juice until well blended. Pour onto cake mix and top with second half of cake mix. 3. Bake according to directions on box (350F for 30 minutes). 4. Let cool completely before serving then refrigerate leftovers immediately.

The importance of freezing time.

If you’re just using them for baking, baking soda is a much better option. In fact, it’s not really accurate to say that baking powder contains any leavening at all; in reality, what it contains is sodium bicarbonate, which reacts with acid to produce carbon dioxide and water vapor. When you add it to a batter or dough that also contains an acidic ingredient (like buttermilk), it reacts immediately with your acidic ingredient and starts to release gas almost instantly.

Serve and enjoy!

This classic pineapple cake recipe is even better when you make it with cherries, making it a smart cherry pineapple dumb cake. The cherries add moistness and flavor to what would otherwise be an average dessert option. It’s easy to make as well; just let your mixer do most of the work for you! Start with three eggs, half a cup of oil, two cups of sugar and one teaspoon vanilla extract—mix these ingredients together at medium speed until they’re well-combined. Then stir in two cups of flour and one teaspoon baking soda. Fold in a cup each of diced pineapple and pitted cherries along with 8 ounces shredded coconut, then pour into a greased 9x13-inch pan.
