1 cup flour, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup water, 6 cloves garlic minced (1 tablespoon), 3 green onions chopped (1/4 cup), 1 lb boneless chicken breast thinly sliced. For frying: 4 cups canola oil. To serve: hot sauce or any spicy red pepper paste like gochujang and plenty of steamed rice. Instructions: In a bowl combine first 4 ingredients along with minced garlic and chopped green onions.

Step 1 - Marinate
In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, 2 teaspoons sesame oil and 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Marinate chicken pieces in mixture overnight in refrigerator.


Fill a large pot with oil (about 2 inches high) and heat to 325 degrees. If you don’t have a thermometer, test by dropping in a tiny piece of chicken—it should bubble immediately.
